THE FOUNDATIONS

The 4Colors method draws its sources from the fundamentals by integrating multiple connections.

From time immemorial, man has sought́ to deepen his knowledge of human behaviour by following in the footsteps of Socrates: "Know thyself". This understanding of our own mechanisms is the key to our personal, social and professional successes; it is a long history from which we will remember some illustrious contributors.

Hippocrates had in his time determined́ four types of behaviour: choleric, phlegmatic, melancholic and sanguine. A little later, Carl Gustav Jung described four functions: sensation, intuition, thought, feelings combining with two attitudes: introversion and extraversion.

William Moulton Marston, father of the polygraph ("lie-detecting machine") determined four styles: dominance, influence, stabilitý and conformitý; to which it is very easy to intuitively associate colours.

Like the MBTI model developed by Isabelle and Katherine Myers Briggs the MBTI, the 4Colors profiles qualify preferences according to the following architecture:

Orientation: Introversion/Extraversion,
Reflection/Action,
Mode of information gathering: Sensing/Intuition,
Thinking/Feeling and Judging/Perception.
